U.S. Coalition Intelligence ‘Operations Room’ Inside Syria, Destroyed by Russian Missile Attack: Thirty Israeli, American, British, Turkish, Saudi, Qatari Intelligence Officials Killed – Report

‘The US and its allies had established a Field Operations Room in the Aleppo region integrated by intelligence personnel. Until it was targeted by a Russian missile attack on September 20, this “semi-secret” facility was operated by US, British, Israeli, Turkish, Saudi and Qatari intelligence personnel…

…The Fars report conveys the impression that the Operations Room was largely integrated by Israelis. In all likelihood, the US was “calling the shots” and the facility was coordinated by Washington’s regional allies, in close liaison with (and on behalf) of the US military and intelligence apparatus.

With the exception of the Fars report and Sputnik Arabic, this Russian attack directed against a US-led coalition intelligence facility has not made the headlines. In fact there has been a total news blackout. The accuracy of the Fars report is yet to be fully ascertained.

Not just Dallas or Baton Rouge, cops killed across U.S.

When five police officers were killed and nine wounded in an attack during a protest march in Dallas on July 7, it rattled the nation.

Ten days later, three officers were killed and three injured in Baton Rouge, La., as they were responding to a call about a suspicious person with an assault rifle.

Between the two attacks, law enforcement officers from Georgia to Michigan were shot in incidents that drew far less attention but have added to the growing sense that it’s a dangerous time to be a cop.

With the Dallas shootings, 31 law enforcement officers have died in the line of duty so far this year, compared with 18 officers who had died at this point in 2015, according the statistics from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

Nick Breul, director of research for the memorial fund and a former Washington, D.C., police officer, said that there have also been a number of surprise attacks targeting and killing police officers.

“As we see increases, it becomes very concerning, particularly when you see increases in the cases of the nature of Dallas,” Breul said.

“Certainly there is a climate now — and the Dallas case indicates that there is a climate now — that certainly should have police on guard,” he added.

A black Army veteran, Lakeem Keon Scott, targeted police in a shooting on July 7 along a highway in Bristol, Tenn., authorities said. One woman was killed and three other people were injured, including one officer who is white. Scott was charged with one count of first-degree murder and seven counts of attempted first-degree murder.

“Preliminarily, the investigation reveals Scott targeted individuals and officers after being troubled by recent incidents involving African Americans and law enforcement officers,” authorities from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a statement.

An officer in the St. Louis suburb of Ballwin, Mo., was shot from behind and critically injured during a traffic stop while he was walking back to his patrol car on July 8, the day after the Dallas shooting.

“A direct attack on an officer like this is not common. It was a very open and very blatant ambush,” said Officer Benjamin Granda of the St. Louis County Police Department. The officer is white and the suspected shooter is black, but Granda declined to speculate about whether the attack had racial overtones.

The same day in Valdosta, Ga., a shooter lured an officer to his house with a 911 call and then opened fire, authorities said. The man, a recovering drug addict, said he “wanted the police to shoot him as he wanted to die,” according to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation news release. Both the shooter and the officer survived bullet wounds, authorities said.

Also on July 8 in Georgia, another officer on patrol became a target when a motorist pulled up and fired at him in Roswell, north of Atlanta. The officer was not injured, and a suspect was taken into custody. But authorities have not commented on the gunman’s motives.

Roswell Det. Zachary Frommer told WSB-TV news that officers were already on high alert after the attacks in Dallas.

“Then something like this happens and it just perks us up even more,” Frommer said.

The violence continued after the weekend when two court bailiffs, both former policemen, were shot and killed by an inmate inside the Berrien County Courthouse in Michigan. A sheriff’s deputy in the courthouse was wounded, and the gunman was later shot and killed.

Kim Fowler, a former law enforcement officer who knew both the slain bailiffs, said that growing violence is a danger to police, but officers try not to dwell on the risks when they are doing their job.

“They can’t sit around thinking about it, and they don’t,” he said. “All you can do is try your best to prepare. You can’t stop doing your normal activities or your everyday police work in taking care of the public.”

Obama Honors Islam Before Dead Marines Killed by Islamic Terrorist; Americans Furious

White House sent out ‘happy Ramadan’ statement before commenting on Chattanooga attack
Obama Honors Islam Before Dead Marines Killed by Islamic Terrorist; Americans Furious

by Paul Joseph Watson | July 17, 2015

President Obama issued a statement yesterday urging Americans to respect the religion of Islam before he even commented on a terror attack by an Islamic extremist in Chattanooga which killed four Marines, prompting widespread anger.

The White House tweeted out a statement wishing Muslims “Eid Mubarak!” as Ramadan came to a close, adding that, “the holiday is a reminder to every American of the importance of respecting those of all faiths and beliefs.”

The statement was tweeted hours after the Chattanooga shooting and after it had been established that the culprit was 24-year-old Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez, a Kuwaiti Muslim whose blog revealed that Islam played a central role in his ideology.

It was only after Obama had lectured Americans about respecting Islam that he paid tribute to the four dead Marines killed by an Islamic terrorist.

Reaction to the timing was brutal.

Obama has been widely criticized for his refusal to even use the term “Islamic” when referring to Islamist terror attacks, an illustration of the stifling political correctness that surrounds discussion of Islamic-inspired atrocities.

In the aftermath of the shootings, the leftist media, which immediately exploited the Charleston attack to collectively demonize all white Americans, is noticeably shy to discuss Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez’s motivation.

Salon.com, which said that “white America must answer for the Charleston massacre,” has as its top story this morning a piece about drafting Al Gore. There are no mentions of Chattanooga until you scroll well down the page.

Donald Trump also took Obama to task during a Fox News appearance last night, slamming his fear of using the term “Islamic terrorism.”

72 People Killed Resisting Gun Confiscation in Massachusetts

June 5, 2015, by Ken Jorgustin

Boston – National Guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed by elements of a Para-military extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw…

Speaking after the clash, Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right-wing tax protest movement.

Gage blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed against internal revenue offices. The governor, who described the group’s organizers as “criminals,” issued an executive order authorizing the summary arrest of any individual who has interfered with the government’s efforts to secure law and order.

The military raid on the extremist arsenal followed wide-spread refusal by the local citizenry to turn over recently outlawed assault weapons.

Gage issued a ban on military-style assault weapons and ammunition earlier in the week. This decision followed a meeting early this month between government and military leaders at which the governor authorized the forcible confiscation of illegal arms.

One government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, pointed out that “none of these people would have been killed had the extremists obeyed the law and turned over their weapons voluntarily.”

Government troops initially succeeded in confiscating a large supply of outlawed weapons and ammunition. However, troops attempting to seize arms and ammunition in Lexington met with resistance from heavily-armed extremists who had been tipped off regarding the government’s plans.

During a tense standoff in the Lexington town park, National Guard Colonel Francis Smith, commander of the government operation, ordered the armed group to surrender and return to their homes. The impasse was broken by a single shot, which was reportedly fired by one of the right-wing extremists.

Eight civilians were killed in the ensuing exchange.

Ironically, the local citizenry blamed government forces rather than the extremists for the civilian deaths. Before order could be restored, armed citizens from surrounding areas had descended upon the guard units. Colonel Smith, finding his forces over matched by the armed mob, ordered a retreat.

Governor Gage has called upon citizens to support the state/national joint task force in its effort to restore law and order. The governor also demanded the surrender of those responsible for planning and leading the attack against the government troops.

Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and John Hancock, who have been identified as “ringleaders” of the extremist faction, remain at large.

And this fellow Americans, is how the American Revolution began, April 20, 1775.

On July 4th, 1776 these same “right wing anti-tax extremists” signed the Declaration of Independence, pledging to each other and their countrymen their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor. Many of them lost everything, including their families and their lives over the course of the next few years.
The (analogous) recounting of history (above) has been floated around the blogoshpere during the past year. It is interesting to reflect back upon history, is it not?

Would not these same men be labeled homegrown terrorists today?

Not saying that circumstances or parallels are the same today (they are indeed different as all times are different), and certainly not promoting the notion, but reading a form of satire can be an interesting thing…
The incident referenced in this article is of course not something that recently took place in the Boston area, but rather a recasting of an event that is widely regarded as marking the beginning of the American Revolutionary War: the military clashes at Lexington and Concord which took place between British troops (commonly known as “redcoats”
or “regulars”) and Massachusetts militia (commonly known as “Minutemen”) on April 18-19 in 1775. The “National Guard” troops were British soldiers, the “paramilitary extremist faction” was rebellious colonials, Thomas Gage was the military governor of Massachusetts and the commander-in-chief of British forces who had been sent to occupy Boston in response to the Boston Tea Party and other colonial acts of protest, and the “law enforcement” group was British troops dispatched to Concord (about 26 miles northwest of Boston) on the night of April 18 in order to destroy military supplies that were reportedly being stored there by colonial rebels.

The colonists learned of the British plans in advance, and William Dawes, Paul Revere, and others famously spread an alarm throughout the area that night warning that British regulars were about to embark in boats from Boston bound for Cambridge and the road to Lexington and Concord. Those early warnings allowed colonial militia to assemble in sufficient numbers to surprise the British troops at Lexington and confront them again at Concord. Those two skirmishes, as well as additional attacks on the British troops as they returned to Boston, left 72 redcoats dead. The colonial militia continued to grow as neighboring colonies sent additional men and supplies, and eventually formed the beginning of the Continental Army that would contest the British in the Revolutionary War.

Thanks to #BlackLivesMatter, More Black People are Now Being Killed in Baltimore

Deadliest month in 15 years as cops fearful of making arrests

by Paul Joseph Watson | May 28, 2015

Thanks to last month’s riots and looting, which were advocated by many corners of the #BlackLivesMatter movement, more black people are dying in Baltimore as a result of massively reduced police patrols and criminals feeling more emboldened.

The city is currently undergoing its deadliest month in 15 years, with a 31-year-old woman and a young boy becoming the 37th and 38th homicide victims.

“It’s so bad, people are afraid to let their kids outside,” Baltimore resident Antoinette Perrine Perrine, whose brother was recently shot, told CBS. “People wake up with shots through their windows. Police used to sit on every corner, on the top of the block. These days? They’re nowhere.”

Arrests have dramatically fallen, with police afraid to detain suspects because they “often have 30 to 50 people surrounding them at any time” and fear getting arrested themselves for making mistakes, according to Police Commissioner Anthony Batts.

“So far this month, arrests are down roughly 56 percent. Police booked just 1,045 people in the first 19 days of May, an average of 55 a day. In the same time period last year, police arrested 2,396 people, an average of 126 a day,” reports the Associated Press.

“People feel as though they can do things and get away with it,” said Donnail Lee, another resident. “I see people walking with guns almost every single day, because they know the police aren’t pulling them up like they used to.”

Wicomico County, MD Sheriff Mike Lewis told Fox News’ Sean Hannity that cops were fearful to be proactive.

“Once you disembowel your law enforcement officers, then you cannot no longer expect them to go out there and protect you, or protect your communities,” he said.

The new national sport of hating police officers and advocating violence against cops – driven by sections of the #BlackLivesMatter movement, which is being funded by billionaire George Soros – has caused a vacuum of authority in high crime cities that has been filled by gun-wielding criminals.

Leftists media outlets like Salon and Time Magazine – who both legitimized violent riots in Ferguson and Baltimore – can also share some of the responsibility for this situation.

As we have previously documented – Black Lives Matter supporters don’t seem to care about black people killing other black people – despite the fact that black on black crime accounts for 93% of all black murder victims in the United States.

They only seem to be interested in black lives if they are taken by police officers, preferably white ones, because the whole narrative has been directed towards racial division instead of actually addressing the root causes of police brutality.

The scene was set for Baltimore’s bloody meltdown right at the beginning of last month’s riots, when police were ordered to stand down by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, allowing looters to take over parts of the city.

With cops now reluctant to do their jobs for fear of retribution, a deepening sense of lawlessness will only lead to more deaths of innocent black people.

Watch the video below to find out why the elite have created the conditions for more Baltimore-style riots across America.

US Claims Its Commandos Killed Senior ISIS Leader in Syria

Story follows revelations Osama Bin Laden assassination story is a ruse

by Kurt Nimmo | Infowars.com | May 16, 2015

Following damaging revelations by ace journalist Seymour Hersh that the Osama bin Laden assassination story is a lie, the US government has floated a new story — its commandos killed Abu Sayyaf, a senior Islamic State commander, in Syria.

Corporate media reporting on the alleged incident resembles a military adventure story. From the Associated Press:

U.S. commandos mounted a rare raid into eastern Syria overnight, killing a senior Islamic State commander in a firefight, capturing his wife and rescuing a Yazidi woman held as a slave, the Pentagon said Saturday.

Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced the raid, identifying the militant as Abu Sayyaf. He said no U.S. forces were killed or injured in the operation.

Like the Bin Laden story, the Abu Sayyaf story arrives without corroboration or independent verification, but merely the word of Obama’s Defense boss, Ashton Carter.

“Abu Sayyaf was killed during the course of the operation when he engaged U.S. forces,” Carter said.

His wife, Umm Sayyaf, is said to be suspected of playing an important role in the group’s “terrorist activities, and may have been complicit in what appears to have been the enslavement of a young Yazidi woman rescued last night.”

“The operation also led to the freeing of a young Yazidi woman who appears to have been held as slave by the couple. We intend to reunite her with her family as soon as feasible.” Bernadette Meehan, spokeswoman for the National Security Council said on Saturday.

The Yazidi played an important role in the propaganda effort against ISIS as the US launched military operations. In 2014 exhaustive establishment media coverage was given to Yazidi refugees in Iraq. Between 20,000 to 30,000 were said to have fled to Mount Sinjar when ISIS militants overran a region in Iraqi Kurdistan.

A vacationing Obama said from Martha’s Vineyard last August the US “broke the ISIL siege of Mount Sinjar.”

“This ‘broke the siege’ statement is a lie. There never was a ‘siege’ on the Sinjar mountain range. The Yazidi who had fled there were quickly welcomed and evacuated to Syria by the Kurdish PKK and YPG forces,” the Moon of Alabama noted on August 14.

“The only reason Obama sent troops and jets to the area was to protect the city of Erbil with its CIA station, the international airport and the local headquarters of various ‘western’ oil companies.”

Turkish ship shelled off Libya coast, officer killed, several crew injured

“We condemn strongly this contemptible attack which targeted a civilian ship in international waters and curse those who carried it out”

by RT | May 11, 2015

A Turkish dry cargo ship has been attacked near the Libyan port city of Tobruk, the Foreign Ministry in Ankara says. A ship officer was killed and several crew members injured.

The incident took place Sunday night. The ship was first shelled from the shore as it was approaching the area, the Turkish ministry said Monday. It was then attacked twice from the air as it was trying to leave the area.

The MV Tuna 1, sailing under the flag of Cook Islands, was carrying a cargo to the Libyan port from Spain and came under attack when it was in international waters, the ministry said. The man killed in the incident was the ship’s third officer.

The ministry condemned the assault, but did not specify who was behind it.

We condemn strongly this contemptible attack which targeted a civilian ship in international waters and curse those who carried it out,” it said.

A Libyan military spokesman responded to condemnations from Ankara, saying the vessel came under attack after ignoring a warning not to approach the city of Derna, some 145 km west of Tobruk.

A ship was shelled about 10 miles from Derna coast. We have warned before about approaching Derna port,” Mohamed Hejazi, a spokesman for forces with Libya’s internationally recognized government, told Reuters. He confirmed one member of the crew was killed, but said that only one other sustained injuries.

A military source also told Reuters the vessel caught on fire and was towed to Tobruk terminal.

Libya remains in turmoil after the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in the popular uprising of 2011 and NATO bombing campaign. At the moment, two separate governments both claiming to be legitimate exist.

The country has been riven by factional fighting and impoverished by the economic decline that followed the hostilities. It has also become a hotbed of international terrorism, with Iraq and Syria-based group Islamic State sending its fighters to Libya.

Back in January, a Libyan warplane attacked a Greek-operated oil tanker anchored off the coast. The attack by forces loyal with the internationally-recognized government of Libya was motivated by factions fighting for control over Libya’s oil export. Two crewmembers of the ship were killed.

While Turkey objected to the attack on its vessel, other countries are unlikely to be vocal about the incident, said Abdel Bari Atwan, editor-in-chief of the London-based news website Rai Al-Youm.

The international community is mostly supporting the government in Tobruk and they are not happy with Turkish and Qatari involvement in the Libyan conflict. I believe they will be silent,” he told RT.

They recognize the problem in Libya and they know they are part of that problem. They sent their warplanes and aircraft carriers to bomb Libya and changed the situation there and created a vacuum that was filled by the armed militia and the Islamists,” he said.

Mom Suspects Aspartame in Chewing Gum Killed Teen Daughter

Artificial sweetener shown to cause cancerous tumors in lab rats
Mom Suspects Aspartame in Chewing Gum Killed Teen Daughter

by Adan Salazar | Infowars.com | May 7, 2015

A British mom suspects artificial sweeteners in chewing gum may have ultimately killed her daughter.

Samantha Jenkins, 19, died in the hospital on June 3, 2011, after exhibiting violent fits and complaining of headaches.

Doctors said the teen’s brain had been starved of oxygen, but were baffled as to what caused the “vibrant, happy and fun-loving” teenager to collapse and go into a coma.

Samantha’s mother Maria Morgan is bringing the case before a Coronor’s Court in Swansea attempting to discover if the gum her daughter consumed may have played a role in her mysterious death.

In the days after Samantha’s passing, Morgan says she found her daughter’s room littered with gum wrappers, and claims the teen would sometimes chew as many as 14 sticks of gum a day.

“I looked through my daughter’s bags, drawers, and bedroom and I found hundreds of sugar-free Trident wrappers and receipts with several packets of chewing gum on them,” said Morgan.

The distraught mother admits she initially believed the notion to be “ridiculous,” but says her hypothesis was “worth mentioning” since doctors failed to provide a sufficient explanation for Samantha’s death.

Morgan says doctors at the time concluded Samantha may have been “poisoned.”

“From the time Sam went into hospital on the Friday evening till they turned her machines off Monday evening, the doctors, neurosurgeons and numerous consultants were baffled as to what had caused all her salts to be so dangerously low, and convinced she had been poisoned,” she said.

“The continuous fitting had caused her brain to swell, causing her to have a brain stem death. She never regained consciousness.”

An autopsy also found wads of gum in Samantha’s stomach, which doctors believe may have contributed to malabsorption of nutrients.

A pathologist told the court he had never seen such a severe adverse reaction to gum, but that the notion it may have caused Samantha’s death is not entirely unfounded.

“There is very little evidence. There is only two case reports about weight loss. No one has actually died as a result of chewing gum. I think there is a potential for this much chewing gum to cause this problem, but it’s not hard fact,” said Dr. Paul Griffiths.

Previous research has found the artificial sweetener aspartame, found in nearly every gum on supermarket shelves, can cause cancer in laboratory animals.

“In a two-year study conducted by the manufacturer of aspartame, twelve of 320 rats fed a normal diet and aspartame developed brain tumors while none of the control rats developed tumors, and five of the twelve tumors were in rats given a low dose of aspartame,” reports Dr. Joseph Mercola.

The dangers of aspartame were so evident, it took the FDA over 20 years to approve it for public consumption after some of its own researchers concluded the risk of the artificial sweetener producing cancerous brain tumors was too high.

In addition to seizures and headaches, holistic practitioner Dr. Michael B. Schachter says ingesting aspartame can produce “neurological or psychiatric symptoms” anywhere in the body.

Other neurologic or psychiatric symptoms include dizziness, unsteadiness, confusion, severe drowsiness and sleepiness, numbness, hyperactivity–especially in children, severe depression, irritability, anxiety, aggression, personality changes, insomnia and phobias.

Visual changes may include blurred vision, blindness, pain and reduced tears. Ringing or buzzing in the ears, hearing impairment or noise intolerance occur in some people. Palpitations, shortness of breath or recent high blood pressure may mimic a heart condition.

Other systems that can be affected are the gastrointestinal system, including diarrhea, nausea and abdominal pain; the skin, including itching and hives; and the endocrine system, including loss of control of diabetes, menstrual changes, marked weight loss or gain and aggravated low blood sugar.

A 1993 study published in Biological Psychiatry found that consumption of aspartame also exacerbated symptoms of depression.

“We conclude that individuals with mood disorders are particularly sensitive to this artificial sweetener and its use in this population should be discouraged,” researchers wrote.

Mrs. Morgan says she needs to find out the truth in order to warn other parents.

“My daughter was a vibrant, happy, fun-loving 19-year-old who had her whole life ahead of her.”

“I just want answers for my beautiful little girl so that we as a family can finally have closure and that maybe the public response could mean changes in awareness of these additives, warning on packets and educating families on the dangers of these additives.”

“She had no idea whatsoever that she was slowly killing herself. The last four years have been a living hell on earth, waiting for answers.”

According to The Guardian, “The pathologist said he would file a report about the case to a health-monitoring body which would decide whether to investigate further.”

Bird Flu Has Already Killed More Than 20 MILLION Turkeys And Chickens In The United States

Are you prepared to go without turkey this Thanksgiving?
Bird Flu Has Already Killed More Than 20 MILLION Turkeys And Chickens In The United States

Are you prepared to go without turkey this Thanksgiving?

Yes, it might actually get that bad.  So far, the worst outbreak of bird flu in U.S. history has claimed the lives of more than 20 million turkeys and chickens, and the pandemic continues to rage wildly out of control.  Once one bird becomes infected, this particular strain of the virus is so virulent that it can virtually wipe out an entire flock in just a matter of days.  At this point, scientists think that this virus is being spread by wild birds, but they have no idea how it is getting inside barns and other enclosed facilities so easily.  Considering how important turkey, chicken and eggs are to our food supply, it is quite alarming that scientists don’t really understand what is going on.  If this bird flu outbreak is not brought under control, how many birds will eventually die?  Right now, it is already in the tens of millions.  Could the total eventually reach into the hundreds of millions?

Minnesota is the top producer of turkeys in the United States, and Iowa is the top producer of eggs, and that is why it is so alarming that both of these states are right at the heart of this current outbreak

Virulent H5 avian influenza strains have spread to 14 states in five months and affected about 24 million birds so far, mostly egg-laying hens and turkeys, according to USDA.

That tally is expected to grow, as U.S. authorities confirm pending cases. The outbreak, which is also affecting two Canadian provinces, shows little sign of slowing.

In Minnesota, the largest producer of U.S. turkeys, state officials saidalmost 5.5 million turkeys and egg-laying chickens have either died from the flu virus or are set to be killed in an effort to contain the outbreak.

In Iowa, the top U.S. egg producer, state agriculture officials said an estimated 20 million chickens and turkeys have been affected there.

So just in those two states alone, we are talking about more than 25 million chickens and turkeys that are already dead or that are scheduled to be killed in an attempt to slow down this outbreak.

Things have already gotten so bad that some in the industry are already projecting that this may cause a shortage of turkeys at Thanksgiving

And now, with Thanksgiving just seven months away, farmers say they may be running out of time to raise enough turkeys -the traditional centerpiece of holiday feasts – to meet the demand.

Once a farm has been infected, flocks must be culled, composted in barns, then disposed of. Buildings must then be thoroughly disinfected. The whole process can take up to three months before a new flock of turkey poults can be brought in, said Steve Olson, executive director of the Minnesota Turkey Growers Association.

Of course any notion of “recovery” assumes that this outbreak will be shortly brought under control and that breeder farms are not being infected.  But we have already had reports that some breeder farms in Minnesota have been infected.

Last year, the United States produced 240 million turkeys.  Almost 20 percent of them came from Minnesota.  So this outbreak in Minnesota is a really, really big deal.

And if you like to eat eggs, you should expect to start to pay more for them as well.  As of now, this pandemic has already wiped out 6 percent of all “layer hens” in this country

Egg producers have been hit hardest. In 2014, 362 million “layer” hens in the U.S. produced 100 billion eggs. With more than 20 million hens now in the process of being culled, nearly 6 percent of the nation’s population has been taken offline.

Even if this pandemic ends very quickly, and that is a huge if, the economic impact would still be huge.  Food producers in the affected states are already starting to lay off workers, and prices for meat and eggs are already starting to rise.

However, what happens if this pandemic cannot be brought under control any time soon and we lose 20, 30 or 40 percent of our turkeys and chickens?

I am recommending that people consider stocking up on canned and frozen meat while they still can.  Prices on those items are certainly not going to be going anywhere but up for the foreseeable future.  And if you can afford it, a second freezer is often a good idea for many families.

The truly frightening thing is that this bird flu pandemic is coming at a time when the U.S. food supply is already under an unprecedented assault.  Just consider some of the thingsthat are currently happening

-More than 40 percent of our fresh produce comes from the state of California, but thanks to the worst multi-year drought in the history of the state much of the region is turning back into a desert.

-Also due to the persistent drought, the size of the U.S. cattle herd is now as small as it was during the 1950s, and the price of beef has doubled since the last recession.

-Over the past few years, something called “porcine epidemic diarrhea” has wiped out approximately 10 percent of the entire pig population in the United States.

-Just off the west coast of the United States, a wide variety of sea creatures are dying in unprecedented numbers.  For example, the sardine population along the west coast has dropped by a staggering 91 percent just since 2007.

-Down in Florida, citrus greening disease is absolutely crushing the citrus industry.  Crops just keep on getting smaller year after year.

-There is a disease known as the TR4 fungus that is devastating banana production worldwide.  In fact, it has been reported that this fungus could someday completely wipe out the variety of bananas that we commonly eat today.

Are you starting to understand?

Just because we have always been able to rely on massive quantities of extremely inexpensive food does not mean that it will always be that way.

At this point, scientists tell us that the strain of the bird flu that is hitting chickens and turkeys poses “little risk” to humans.  But it does pose a tremendous risk to our food supply – especially if our scientists can’t figure out a way to bring this outbreak under control.

So why is all of this happening?  Please feel free to tell us what you think by posting a comment below…
